Jealousy

Let us talk of jealousy,
to dissect what it could be.
Let us take a closer look
at its tentacles and hooks.

Is there more than just one kind
of jealousy for us to find?
Is one kind healthy and good,
the other evil to the root?

Let us explore its origin
to see where it is all begin.
When we take a look inside,
we find the root of its abide.

This monster’s a self-centred one,
and this is where it’s all begun.
It’s when we put our own selves first,
that we develop jealous thirst.

That’s when human consumption starts;
with its poisoned envy darts,
it aims at what self-interest needs
without considering it greed.

It does not mind to isolate,
or even to manipulate,
to make sure it gets its way
with its morsel of human prey.

But let’s consider what it’s not;
it’s not love at it’s core plot.
It seeks not what the other needs
and doesn’t contain Spirit seeds.

It doesn’t know of sacrifice,
but holds love in a deadly vice.
It doesn’t care whom it destroys
by the evil schemes that it employs.

At it’s core, it speaks of lack,
of things that keep us off the track
of where God wanted us to be,
and clouds the way we think and see.

God made us with the right to choose,
knowing well that He might loose
us in the garden of Eden
where at first it all began.

If God did not use forced control
to keep us in our pre-cast role,
why do we force our will and way
on those we love to make them stay?
