The castaway

The castaway

Our most special gift from God is life,
We let it slip through clumsy fingers
Yet not through toil, nor through our strife,
This gift with us still lingers.

How many lonely nights I wished
for the silence of which death whispers
I shunned the gift from God received
For an aching heart’s lonely whimpers.

If you are now where I was then,
And you read these words of mine,
You need to find yourself a friend
Through which your love can shine.

Maybe you’ll learn the life you live is not God’s gift to you,
It is for those who know God not, so they can know Him too.
