Clearing away the fog

The mist rolled in across the bay

and muted the words I had to say

for it stripped me of my clarity

and blinded me to what could be

Perhaps the mist was kind that day

as it rolled across the empty bay,

perhaps it saved us both the sight,

the knowledge that we were not right

As the mist cleared from the bay,

it was clear that you would go away,

that it became impossible to stay -

but I knew that I would be okay
