Flowers fade

I saw the beauty of the land
as we walked upon it hand in hand
as it bloomed and budded all around
with luscious life that knew no bound

But life was never permanent
no matter how magnificent
and as the flowers wilted away
I knew that you too could not stay

The memories wane as flowers fade
and the new ones formed seem to invade
upon the sacred life that we had known,
upon the life that we had grown

Thus I return you to the soil,
the dust that holds no fear or spoil,
to a Life that knows no suffering,
to hope’s eternal Life Spring
