Winter

Frost is biting in the air
with Winter fast approaching
The wind has laid the trees bare
with colder spells encroaching.

Winter speaks truth nakedly,
can sometimes be quite blunt
in its chilled and cold delivery
about what we need and want.

It strips away frivolities
with unforgiving harshness
to life’s bare necessities,
a life of barren scarceness.

Winter wind, lay waste my mind
and strip it of this fantasy
whisk me away to where I find
a secure foothold in reality.
